Reverend Walter R. Patten, Ph.D., Intentional Interim Minister
Reverend Walter R. Patten is a longtime United Church of Christ pastor with strong educational credentials. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to earn a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in mathematics with a minor in physics; he earned his Master of Divinity degree (M. Div.) from Duke Divinity School at Duke University; and completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in the Graduate School of Religion at Duke University. He has three units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from the School of Pastoral Care at Wake ForestUniversity Medical Center (“Baptist” Hospital). He also holds both Interim Ministry Certification (IM) and Intentional Interim Certification (IIM) from the Center for Congregational Health in Winston Salem. Dr. Patten is presently the Intentional Interim Minister at First Reformed UCC in Lexington, N.C.
