A Message From Rev. Elizabeth HortonDear Beloved Community,I want to say a very special thank you to June Grubb for pinch-hitting last Sunday while I was unexpectedly absent. I tested positive for COVID on Thursday and felt like I had the flu for several days. I am so grateful to Rev. June for saying yes without much notice! I know my tab with her is getting longer.I am grateful for the ways that this church shows grace and love to me and to one another. This Sunday, we finish up our sermon series On The Edge Of Faith. The prophet Isaiah calls us out of our comfort zones with questions like; What happens when you do all the right things and follow the appropriate rules of life, but life is still really tough? Not much else can push our faith over the edge, like doing what our faith has “taught” us, only to feel penalized while others sail through unscathed. What does it feel like when God seems absent, uninterested, or even vengeful? Are there places in your life where you have tried your hardest and it’s just not working out the way you expected it would?Let’s tackle these questions together, even as we stand on the edge. Thanks!Elizabeth |
