The Prayer Shawl/Blanket Ministry sews and knits or crochets lap-size blankets and shawls for those experiencing illnesses, difficult times, youth going off to college, newborns, baptisms, and weddings. Prayers are offered for recipients as the blankets and shawls are constructed.
This has become a fast-growing ministry of First Reformed United Church of Christ. Church members continue to share names of loved ones, associates, acquaintances, locals, out-of-town, out-of-state, etc. individuals who need a hug that can be shared through a shawl or blanket that was pieced together with loving hands and prayers.
If you can’t knit or crochet it doesn’t matter. We can teach you those arts, or we will show you how to assemble the blankets.
It is important that we continue our knitting, crocheting, and knot tying during the summer to keep our closet supplied and ready to comfort hurting and distressed people in our community and lives. These needs do not take vacations or breaks. Help us keep our ministry alive.
