Sunday’s Sermon: From Scarcity to Abundance Rev. Elizabeth Horton |
A Message From Rev. Elizabeth Horton |
Dear Beloved Community,In our series, From Bread and Cup to Faith and Giving, we have gathered around the Table of Christ to receive the gifts of Holy Communion. We have imagined what it would be like to feed 5000. We saw Jesus showing compassion, providing sustenance, and offering grace to all who were hungry. |
This Sunday, Jesus will challenge us to grow from a Faith from scarcity to a Faith of abundance.Sharing what we have is difficult for we live in a world that shouts, “I got mine, now you get yours!” We will hear Jesus say the opposite: No one is more or less worthy than another. We are in this life together. As faithful stewards together, we give out of what we have so that no one goes without. Every one, every household, contributes to the mission of bringing in the Kingdom of God.Faithful Stewardship is saying, “We believe the work of the Church is so important that we will take a portion of what we have and share it with the Church.” Faithful Stewardship is saying, We will respond to Jesus’s invitation to the Table, to be changed and then to help change the world. To see one way we are faithful stewards of the church facilities,Click here to watch video of Meals On Wheels Ministry. This Sunday, we’ll have a testimony video of the Saturday Lunch Ministry in action.I am grateful to share the journey in stewardship with you,Elizabeth |
