Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl/Blanket Ministry sews lap-size blankets or shawls for those experiencing illnesses, difficult times, youth going off to college, newborns, baptisms, and weddings.  Prayers are offered for recipients as the blankets are constructed.

This has become a fast-growing ministry of First Reformed United Church of Christ.  Church members continue to share names of loved ones, associates, acquaintances, locals, out-of-town, out-of-state, etc. individuals who need a hug that can be shared through a shawl or blanket that was pieced together with loving hands and prayers.

If you can’t knit or crochet it doesn’t matter.  We can teach you those arts, or we will show you how to assemble the blankets.

Mark your calendars for July 14, 2013, the next scheduled Blessing of Shawls and Blankets. Please have the shawls/blankets in the church parlor by July 7th so we can tag and wrap them for this blessing. Even though we will take a break from meeting during the summer months, the requests for these shawls/blankets continues. It is important that we continue our knitting, crocheting, and knot tying during the summer to keep our closet supplied and ready to comfort hurting and distressed people in our community and lives. These needs do not take vacations or breaks. Help us keep our ministry alive.

 Wrapping God’s Love,

First Reformed UCC Prayer Shawl Ministry
