Sunday’s Sermon A Work In Progress: Set ApartRev. Elizabeth HortonScripture Reading:Jeremiah 2:4-13
A Message From Rev. Elizabeth HortonDear Beloved Community,With the recent changes in the CDC guidelines, the Consistory approved the lifting of all Covid Restrictions for church facilities. Moving forward, masking and distancing is left up to your judgment. Even without limits in place, we plan as a congregation to continue to do what is needed to care for one another and help each other remain healthy. This Sunday, we begin a 6-week sermon series, A Work in Progress, from the Book of Jeremiah. Jeremiah was a Prophet, who spoke on behalf of the oppressed against those in power. He was controversial, not well-liked, and one whom the people in power wanted to keep silent.Jeremiah was called while Israel was under tremendous transition. His words of critique were both urgent and necessary. We as a people and a church, are in transition. Our world, our lives, and bodies are constantly changing into the next chapter. Today, the word from Jeremiah for us continues to be both urgent and necessary. We are always in progress; always taking small steps that lead us to change. How is God shaping you right now? For what is God shaping you?How is God shaping First Reformed?Come, let us find out together.See you Sunday,Elizabeth
