Sunday’s Sermon A Work In Progress: Set ApartRev. Elizabeth HortonScripture Reading:Jeremiah 2: 4-13
A Message From Rev. Elizabeth HortonDear Beloved Community,This Sunday, August 28, we will host a Back to School Blessing for Students, Teachers, and Parents as they begin a new school year. Let us show our love and lift up in prayer all the new beginnings! Bring your back pack if you can!Who needs a Do-Over?This week, in our Jeremiah sermon series A Work in Progress, we ask that very question. Was a Prophet, who spoke on behalf of the oppressed against those in power? Remember, Jeremiah was a prophet who spoke out against corruption, greed, exploitation, and overall selfish living. He was called on while Israel was going through tremendous transitions. When we experience change, we often make choices based in fear and insecurity. We as a people and a church, are also in transition. Always taking small steps that lead us to change. But as we change and grow, sometimes we make really bad choices that hurt ourselves and others. Sometimes, we all need a Do-Over.How is God shaping you right now?How is God shaping First Reformed?Come, let us find out together.Elizabeth

Lifting of Covid Restrictions:With the recent changes in the CDC guidelines, the Consistory approved the lifting of all Covid Restrictions for church facilities. Moving forward, masking and distancing is left up to your judgment. Even without limits in place, we plan as a congregation to continue to do what is needed to care for one another and help each other remain healthy.
