WEEKLY EMAIL FROM FIRST REFORMED UCC
FEBRUARY 25, 2022
—————————————Dear Beloved Community,
Amidst the suffering in the world here is a beautiful prayer written by our Minister of Youth and Children, Rev. Evan Sieges,

A Prayer, for the People of Ukraine
God of Heaven, hear our prayer.
That You would hear us, and protect the innocent, the vulnerable, and the fearful.
That You would hear us, and protect Your children from the evils of colonialism and of empire.
That You would hear us, and protect the innocence of children. Spare them from the scourge of violence.
That You would hear us, and protect those who flee for their lives. Grant them refuge.
That You would hear us, and grant us the wisdom to know what is right and the courage then to do what is right.
That You would hear us, and forgive us for our foolish and destructive ways.
That You would hear us, and end war.
God of Heaven, that You would hear us.

Lord Jesus, in Your mercy, please.
Amen.

LOOKING TOWARD SUNDAY: A MESSAGE FROM REV. HORTONThis Sunday we complete our LOVE IS series. It’s the story of the transfiguration and the Girl Scout troop that we sponsor will be here to lead worship!
Jesus goes on the mountaintop and is changed before the eyes of the disciples. The disciples themselves were transformed as well. What risks are you willing to take to be transformed into the disciple God is calling you to be? What risks does First Reformed need to take to be transformed for this day and age? Join me on Sunday!

SCRIPTURE:
Luke 9:28-38

VERNON GASTON (V.G.) PRICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Vernon Price was a man with accomplishments in many fields of endeavor, yet the things most dear to him were very simple – his family, his faith, his students and his town. For this reason, his family requested that a scholarship be established in his name and that the recipients of the award encompass the ideals held most dear by V.G.  Applications are due to the church office by March 31. You can find a copy of the application HERE or contact the church office.
