Upcoming Events for 2-12-18 thru 2-18-18

Let Your Light Shine! It’s Transfiguration Sunday, where the disciples go with Jesus on top of the mountain and have an experience like never before. On this Sunday, Jesus unveils his greatest risk of all, that he will risk his very life in order to proclaim messages of God’s love, healing, and hope. We too must be willing to take risks in order to have life that is fully lived. What are you willing to risk to be transformed? Mark 8:27-9:8
After worship, I look forward to gathering with you in the fellowship hall for the congregational meeting, where we will reflect upon the ways FRUCC has proclaimed God’s message of love, healing, and hope in 2017. We look with excitement as we prepare to follow the call into God’s future.

  • Feb. 11, the 3 Adult Sunday School classes will spend time reflecting and discussing questions in the Building an Inclusive Church Process. Feel free to come even if you are not a regular.

  • VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
VBS planning has begun! Second Reformed UCC has invited our church, along with Shady Side and St. Stephen’s, to participate in VBS with their church June 17-21. WE NEED A VOLUNTEER TO SERVE AS A CONTACT PERSON and attend a planning meeting in April. We also need volunteers to serve as teachers and/or group leaders. Please contact Cathy by March 11 if you are interested.

  • “SOUP-ER” BOWL SUNDAY WAS FEBRUARY 4th…

…but because the weather was so bad last Sunday, the youth of our church decided to wait until this coming Sunday to collect for “Soup-er” Bowl. The youth will be at each exit following worship with their soup pots to collect money that will be donated to Open Hands Ministry. Be sure to bring your dollars and change to fill the soup pots for the youth!

  • CONGREGATIONAL MEAL AND MEETING

Our CONGREGATIONAL MEAL AND MEETING will follow worship this Sunday. Women’s Life Fellowship will be serving their famous soup for the meal. Along with committee reports, there will be a vote to change the church by-laws to move the meeting date for presentation of nominations for Consistory to the second Sunday in November instead of the first since this regularly interferes with Homecoming Sunday. If you have not picked up pre-ordered soup, it will be available after worship.

  • BUILDING AN INCLUSIVE CHURCH PROCESS

Again this Sunday, in the worship bulletin, there will be a slip of paper on which to write any of your questions about the Open and Affirming process. The questions will be collected by the Welcoming Task Force with the mission of arranging small groups or find other ways to accommodate the questions. Your voice is important.
