Upcoming Events for 11-27-17 thru 12-3-17

HELP NEEDED!
The Salvation Army needs volunteer bell ringers at Tractor Supply. First Reformed UCC is scheduled to provide volunteer bell ringers from 10:00am-6:00pm on December 1st and 2nd. Shifts are usually for two-hour blocks of time. To volunteer, please contact Mark Smith at 336-337-9666 or msmith@gwsmithlbr.com.

ADVENT WORSHIP THEME
Our worship theme for Advent is “Angels Among us: Do Not Be Afraid.” If you have a special statue of an angel, please bring it to worship on December 3rd for a special display. Make sure your name is on the bottom and plan for it to remain as part of the display throughout the season of Advent.

The Pastor’s Discussion Class theme is Counteracting Fear in Advent. Through the four Sundays of Advent we will focus on the theme of “Do Not Be Afraid: Defeating Fear with Hope, Peace, Love, Joy and a Whole-hearted Life.” The small group study is based on the work of Dr. Brene Brown. She is a social worker, researcher, and best-selling author. Her work on vulnerability speaks to how we let fear affect our lives. No preparation needed for each session. All are welcome.

NEW USHER GUIDELINES
According to our new usher guidelines, the back and side doors of the sanctuary will be locked at 11:00am each Sunday. If you arrive later, please enter through the front door.
