Touching Davidson County With Love

Touching Davidson County With Love

Our church is collecting items for Communities in Schools of Lexington/Davidson County as we again participate in Touching Davidson County with Love. Needed are non-perishable food, hygiene and laundry products. Collection boxes are in the narthex of the sanctuary as well as in the corridor outside the fellowship hall. Look for sign-up board in the narthex to find a project you want to help with on April 22, the day of this year’s Touching Davidson County with Love event. First Reformed UCC needs volunteer project helpers. This event helps many elderly folks in the community who are in need, as well as children and youth. See projects below with various skill levels that will be done:

  • Plant a flower garden
  • Repair a wheelchair ramp
  • Repair failing floor
  • Singing in nursing homes
  • Visiting in nursing homes
  • Youth working at Kamp Kiwanis
  • Crocheting or knitting baby caps for our hospitals
  • Making “Thinking of You Cards” for shut-ins
  • Making baby blankets for needy and abused children
  • Delivering sandwich lunch to volunteers at job sites
  • Please contact Mark Smith at 336-337-9666 or email him at msmith@gwsmithlbr.com to volunteer for a helping project. Deadline to sign up is Sunday, April 9th. There will be a brief community worship kickoff with refreshments beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 22nd, the day of the event, at First Baptist Church, Lexington. Signups will be in the narthex of the sanctuary. Your project manager will contact you with details after you sign up.
