SUNDAY, April 9: PALM SUNDAY:

  • Pastor Elizabeth brings the message at the Community Palm Sunday service at Old Courthouse on the Square after worship.
  • Bring Kleenex for participants of The Life Center.
  • 9:45 a.m. Youth Service Project to make gifts for homebound members (FH)
  • 9:45 a.m. Adult Sunday School classes (New Way with Dave) (Willing Workers with Carolyn)
  • 11 a.m. Palm Sunday worship service with message titled “Questions at the Cross” and JAM children’s choir sings
  • The children will release the butterflies this Sunday, April 9th. Nursemaid Cathy Waitman took such good care of the cocoons, the butterflies grew faster and hatched earlier than predicted. They emerged beautiful, healthy and robust, eager to fly away and explore their new life.
  • 12:15 p.m. Community Palm Sunday worship service with Pastor Elizabeth bringing the Gospel message (Old Courthouse steps)
  • 7 p.m. Beulah UCC on Arnold Road; Joint Palm Sunday evening with message by Rev. Elizabeth Horton. First Reformed UCC’s choir combines with other UCC churches from the Davidson/Forsyth district to provide music for the service.

    Holy Week Activities

    Upcoming Events Please join us on April 9th for the annual Community Palm Sunday Celebration on the Square. Reverend Horton will participate. Ushers will pass out programs for the service and palm fronds. A delicious lunch will be served at the J. Smith Young YMCA. Lunch will begin at 11:30 and continue until 1:30 to accommodate those who may want to eat following the Ecumenical Palm Sunday Service held on the old Court House steps. Tickets are $10 for adults…

    Touching Davidson County With Love

    Our church is collecting items for Communities in Schools of Lexington/Davidson County as we again participate in Touching Davidson County with Love. Needed are non-perishable food, hygiene and laundry products. Collection boxes are in the narthex of the sanctuary as well as in the corridor outside the fellowship hall. Look for sign-up board in the narthex to find a project you want to help with on April 22, the day of this year’s Touching Davidson County with Love event. First…

    Labyrinth Walks April 11-16

    Church to offer labyrinth walks April 11-16 A labyrinth looks like a maze, but it is not. Some find it a meditation tool, or walk it simply for the peace and serenity that comes from being alone and contemplating a problem or issue. The most famous labyrinth is located on the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France, which dates to the 13th century. Hours to walk the labyrinth are April 11 and April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.…

    Community Meal, March 28, 2017

    First Reformed UCC enjoyed the second Community Meal of the year on Tuesday, March 28th. A delicious meal prepared by chef Mike Brown and “Crew” consisting of Baked Spaghetti, Salad, Garlic Bread, Homemade desserts, Tea and Lemonade was served to approximately 80 church families and community friends. Sponsored by the Evangelism Board and the Community Meal volunteers, this was another successful time to enjoy good food and fellowship while sharing God’s many blessings.
